How to Find the Best Sports Bra For You

¡Hola, mi gente bella! Finding the perfect sports bra can make all the difference in your workout experience! Let’s face it: our breasts are soft tissue that can move around quite a bit when we’re exercising. Sometimes, it feels like they’re just always in the way. Without the right support, a workout can get uncomfortable fast. But don’t worry! That’s where a good sports bra comes in.

Sports bras can help keep your chest from moving around too much while working out, so you can relax and focus on your workout. Let’s face it. Regular bras aren’t always comfortable in general, but they’re especially bad when you’re trying to work out. Getting jabbed by underwire can ruin a workout fast.

Unlike regular bras, sports bras are designed to keep everything in place, allowing you to focus on what you love — working out!

If you’ve got a big chest, it might feel like your breasts are always trying to escape from a regular bra, so a sports bra can keep you more comfortable in general. So, how do you find the best sports bra for you? In this article, we're here to spill the on how to find the right sports bra for you!

How Should a Sports Bra Fit?

The Blush Sports Bra from Sanhouse Fit

You need a sports bra that is designed to reduce the bounce as much as possible. As you know, too much bouncing can be uncomfortable, or even painful, and make you want to stop whatever you’re in the middle of doing. Finding a comfortable bra can sometimes feel like you're hunting for a unicorn, especially if you've got a bigger bust. Who wants to feel like their chest is in an uncomfortable cage all day? Nadie!

Did you know that between 50 and 90 percent of women are wearing the wrong-sized bra? How do you know that you’re not one of them? Well, we have some pointers here that’ll help you figure out if the sports bra you’re trying on will actually fit you correctly! Your girls will thank you!

1. Check the band’s fit

The band is where a lot of the support comes from, so getting this right is key! It needs to fit snugly, but not tight, and it sits level with your body. If it’s digging in, it’s too tight, and if it’s riding up your back, it’s too big.

While measuring for your band size, wrap the measuring tape around your chest, just under your arms and above your bust. If you get a fraction, round up to the next whole number.

2. How are the straps sitting?

Your straps should sit comfortably on your shoulders. Are they digging into your shoulders? If yes, it’s too tight. Are they constantly slipping down your shoulders? It’s too loose.

A good rule of thumb is to fit two fingers between the strap and your shoulder — it should feel secure but not restrictive.

3. Now let’s look at the cups.

The cups should hug your breasts perfectly, with no overflow or gaps. If you’re spilling out of the bra, it is too small, and if you feel like you have a lot of room in it, the bra is way too big. Remember, containment is key when it comes to a sports bra.

To measure for your cup size, wear a non-padded bra and measure around the fullest part of your breast. Subtract your band size from your bust size, and the difference will tell you your cup size. For example, a 1 inch difference is an A cup, 2 inches is a B, and so forth.

We know that some companies will use different measuring standards between cup sizes, which makes it even harder to find a bra. But a comfortable, well-fitting bra is possible! Going in with your measurements in hand will help you find any bra — sports or regular!

What’s the difference between impact types on sports bras?

The Sanhouse Fit Backless Sports Bra is modeled here.

When you are shopping for a sports bra, you’ll probably come across terms like high, medium, and low impact. So, let’s break down what each of those means, so you can pick the right bra for your needs!

High-Impact Sports Bras

If you love running, jumping, or playing sports like basketball or tennis, high-impact bras are your friends! They’re designed to keep your breasts secure during those bouncy movements.

Even if you’re doing lower-impact activities, these bras can be great for larger breasts, since they offer a lot more support than a low-impact bra does.

One fantastic option is the Sanhouse Fit Blush Sports Bra — it’ll give you the support you need, and it’s comfortable enough to wear all day. You can kiss underwire goodbye with this sports bra.

Medium-Impact Sports Bras

If your workouts include hiking, cycling, boxing, or weight training, a medium-impact sports bra might be just what you need. These activities still require good support, but not quite as much as a high-impact bra offers. These bras strike a nice balance, offering solid support without being too restrictive.

This style works well for smaller cup sizes or larger ones doing low-impact sports.

Low-Impact Sports Bras

For activities like yoga, Pilates, or light lifting, a low-impact sports bra is ideal. Since your workout doesn’t make you bounce as much, you don’t need a sports bra that keeps as tight a hold on them.
